Handiedan
Handiedan is a Dutch mixed media artist who creates visually stunning and complex artworks using a combination of various materials and techniques. Her unique style blends elements of vintage pin-up imagery, traditional Japanese art, and modern graphic design, resulting in intricate collages that are both sensual and surreal.
Born in 1981, Handiedan started her career as a graphic designer, but her passion for art and experimentation led her to explore different forms of artistic expression. Handiedan’s works incorporate a range of media. She uses found objects, old books, and vintage prints. These materials are transformed into intricate collages through the use of cut-out techniques, digital manipulation, and hand-drawn elements.
Handiedan’s artworks often feature striking female figures that exude a sense of seduction and empowerment. Her pin-up models are not objectified but rather, celebrated as strong and independent characters. In her works, she often incorporates symbolic elements such as botanical motifs, insects, and antique machinery, creating a richly textured and layered visual narrative that invites the viewer to delve deeper into the artwork.
Her influences are wide-ranging and eclectic, spanning from traditional Japanese woodblock prints to contemporary street art. She also draws inspiration from the works of surrealists such as Salvador Dali and Max Ernst, as well as the art nouveau movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Today, Handiedan’s artworks are widely exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and she continues to push the boundaries of mixed media art (including NFT) with her innovative and thought-provoking creations.
